The  joint European Library Association Manifesto Libraries for a Sustainable Future: Manifesto for the 2024 European elections is now translated into Bulgarian, Italian, Portuguese, and Slovenian.

This manifesto, originally released in English, calls upon candidates for the European Parliament elections to recognize and harness the potential of libraries in shaping Europe’s future. It outlines actionable steps that future Members of the European Parliament, as well as other EU institutions, can take within their areas of expertise to realize libraries’ potential.

We believe that libraries are not just repositories of knowledge but crucial pillars of our society. Through equitable access to culture and education, support for vibrant democracies, inclusive innovation, preservation of Europe’s memory, and contributions to global development, libraries play an indispensable role in fostering a sustainable future for Europe.

We are very grateful for the translations and look forward to expanding the collection to include additional languages.

Inclusivity and accessibility are utmost important in our mission to ensure that the manifesto resonates with audiences across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
